The Comenius Mural

On Thursday, 12 October we were delighted to unveil the striking Mural which won The British Council Comenius Award. Artist, Professor Graham Crawley, who

not only judged the competition but helped the Year 9 students and Art teacher Mrs. Corinne Neville to produce the mural was at the unveiling.

The former Head of Painting at the Royal College of Art considered the design to be `distinguished, graphically and architecturally impressive,

moving and inventive, showing original thought and a high contemporary cultural awareness and expressing the best of education’.

The mural was created to celebrate the students’ experience of international collaboration through the Comenius School Partnerships programme. Fairfax School was

awarded a digital camera and materials to create the mural on site.

The Mural features digital self-portraits of the students and their fellow students from other countries.
